Not much remains of the original Novospassky Monastery of 1490, most of the buildings now seen there date back to the 16th century. During the Soviet era, it suffered a similar fate to that of its colleagues: stripped of its religious symbols and transformed into a prison (this time dedicated to people in a state of public drunkenness). Nowadays, the complex is rehabilitated and can be visited, but you are advised to go there only if you are a passionate person.
