In the extension of the same wharf of the Moscow River, Saint Simon Monastery (one of the oldest in Moscow) is part of this monastery belt of fortified monasteries surrounding the southern part of the city. This monastery, where Maxime lived, was built in 1739 in the domain of Du Khovrine, which will become Monarch Simon. Today only the south wall and three towers are still standing. The other part of the monastery was destroyed during the 1930 s.
