KROUTITSKOYE PODVORIE
Located between the Simonov and Novospassky monasteries, this former residence of the Moscow metropolitan was rebuilt in the 17th century. The name given to the monastery comes from the word kroutitsi, meaning the raised left banks of the Moskva River, after the mouth of the river Yauza. It houses the offices of the Metropolitan of Moscow, offices nicknamed Metropolitburo since in March 1992 were made public evidence of collaboration of Metropolitan Juvenal with the KGB. A museum on the territory of the monastery exhibits handicrafts.
