GLINKA MUSIC MUSEUM
Russia has always cultivated its rich musical tradition, as can be seen in this ambitious museum dedicated entirely to music, which, in addition to comprising a total of 7 member establishments, is among the oldest and is undoubtedly the largest on the Old Continent. This is the museum's historic building, dating from the Soviet era (1919), and meets the demands of the entire musical spectrum. There are pieces for lovers of anthropology and history in the collection of Russian and Slavic historical instruments, pieces for admirers of great figures in the collection of rare instruments that belonged to great artists. Finally, the less curious can easily enjoy the experience of getting lost in the soundtracks and other interactive exhibits that retrace 300 years of Russian music. To complete the picture, the museum is very active and is constantly presenting new temporary exhibitions, all of them exciting and of high quality, involving other institutions of excellence around the world and even contemporary artists whose impromptu performances you may be lucky enough to see during your visits. It is also important to note the propensity of the Musée de la Musique to organize its own concerts, thus letting the world know that music is not locked in the past and can be appreciated through the ages.
