Little known abroad, Korney Chukovsky is among the most popular children's poets in Russia: his poems such as Tarakanishche ("The Monster Cockroach"), Telefon ("The Telephone") and Moydodyr ("Washing-Cleaning"), based on the adventures of absurd characters, have been favourites for many generations. The interior of his house-museum has been preserved in its original form.
