NÁMĚSTÍ REPUBLIKY
Náměstí Republiky Square is the largest in the city. It is accessed from Míru Avenue, the main axis of the new town. Beautiful buildings surround it. The Municipal Theatre is immediately noticeable on the south side of the square. It is the most beautiful Art Nouveau building in the city with its frescoes and coloured stained glass windows, which frequently hosts concerts. At the other end of the square, the Saint-Barthélemy church, very elegant with its very thin tower. It dates from the 13th century, but was damaged by the Hussites and rebuilt in 1515.
