In 1640, the Piarist order was invited by the Pernštejn family to settle in Litomýsl with the aim of bringing the local population back to the Catholic faith. A school and a church were built. Today's Priory Church is located on the beautiful Šantovo Square. The complex was expanded in the 18th century. A new cathedral and a new school were built, which today houses the Regional Museum. You can walk through the beautiful convent gardens, which were designed as an open theater stage.
