Like many other baroque castles, it was built on the site of a fortress destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. It was designed by the French architect Mathey, who completed it in 1675. The four-winged building was later slightly modified. The building is pleasant to look at, it looks like a high bourgeois house. The long staircases in front of the building lead to rooms that are a little disappointing. Only the rich main hall has preserved its beautiful original decoration.
