KLEŤ OBSERVATORY - OBSERVATOIRE KLET
The Klet Observatory is a research institute belonging to the natural science centres of South Bohemia, and is managed by the South Bohemia region. It is located south of the summit of Mount Klet, at an altitude of 1,070 m, about 20 km southwest of the town of České Budějovice, where the observatory's archives are located. Founded in 1957, it has a good site with about 150 clear nights per year and a good stability of its atmosphere due to its altitude, about 200 m above the average top of the cloud cover. He specializes in the detection and study of minor planets and comets. Among the instruments that can be admired on site are the 1.06 m diameter KLENOT telescope, or the spectacular "0.57-m f/5.2 reflector" telescope installed on site since 1993 and dedicated to asteroid and comet detection.
