BUDVAR BREWERY (PIVOVAR BUDVAR)
Beer has been brewed here since the founding of the city. The famous Budvar, named Budweiser in German, is now world famous and exported in millions of liters. But be careful not to confuse Budweiser with Budweiser... Indeed, an American brewery based in Milwaukee appropriated the German name of Budvar (Budweiser), after having tried to copy the recipe, and became known all over the world. This company even tried to buy the Czech brewery, which provoked the anger of the population, a revival of chauvinism and a justified intervention of the government. The Americans failed, but kept the name of their beer, even though the two beers are far, far from being comparable in quality. The American lager has a strong taste... of water, quite tasteless, far from the much finer and worked flavor of Budvar made in Českě Budějovice. The tour will allow you to delve into all the secrets of one of the greatest industrial thefts in history. Also to share with you the Czech know-how in this field by following the entire manufacturing process, from the harvesting of malt and hops to bottling, closing the whole thing with a tasting in the cellars, of a beer that could not be more freshly drawn! Don't miss the store, which is full of books about the Budvar epic and related products.
