Located on the west side of the square, Dietrichstein Palace is one of Brno's largest palaces. It was built in the early 17th century as the seat of Cardinal Frantisek Dietrichstein, but its current Baroque appearance dates from the 18th century. It houses the main section of the Moravian Lands Museum (Moravské Zemské Muzeum). It's a very "field trip" museum, with exhibitions of geology, ethnology, paleontology and archaeology on Moravia and the region's history.
