It was from this small hill, just a mound but offering a complete strategic view of the battlefield, that Napoleon I commanded the attack of his troops on the morning of the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805. Don't be surprised by the tricolor flag still flying in the wind: this place is French territory since the Czech Republic gave it to France in 2005, to commemorate the bicentennial of the battle. A monument commemorates the battle and a relief map describes the position of the troops.
