It's the oldest synagogue in Moravia, and the second oldest in the country after Prague's Old-New Synagogue. It was nevertheless extensively renovated in the 19th century. At the end of the Second World War, the site was acquired by the Hussite church, which adapted it for its own worship. The town also boasts two Jewish cemeteries (Old and New). The old cemetery was also destroyed by the Nazis, then transformed into a park and partially rebuilt in the 1990s.
