LANDEK PARK
An extraordinary adventure that this visit through the galleries of disused mines, which starts after a small staging simulating a long descent underground via an elevator, nearly 700 m below ground. As the tour progresses, we learn, step by step, about the daily life of the underground miners in the 1960s, the technical progress made, the dangers of the job... Today, the obsolete machines from the Soviet era as well as the old telephone sets seem to come from another time. Some of them are still working and are started by the guides during the visit, invading the galleries with a thundering sound chaos that allows to better understand the terrible and anguishing working conditions that the workers had to face, working lying at the bottom of noisy and dusty galleries, in a deafening chaos. The violent draughts and temperature differences in some places also give an idea of the permanent danger of explosion or fire which was one of the greatest risks of mining. The highlight of the tour: it is guided by former miners who bring their knowledge and anecdotes, but you will need someone to translate them: they rarely speak English. On the way out, a tour in the mine train will delight young and old. Warning: the visit is not recommended for people who are claustrophobic or afraid of being underground.
