MUSÉE DES CAMIONS TATRA
Opening in November 2021, the museum dedicated to Tatra trucks revisits the adventure of the splendid Czech brand, just like in the museum dedicated to cars, with the added interactivity. With your ticket, you will be given a tablet with which you will flash QR codes throughout the visit to launch animations in the museum or view films and archive photographs on the tablet. This will delight those who are fond of information that is often difficult to find in France. Even better: it is possible to virtually climb into certain truck models to see the interior fittings.
The tour begins with the first horse-drawn carriage created in Kopřivnice by Ignac Šusta. This is followed by the legendary Tatra 72 and 82, military and civilian versions of the same chassis, which founded the brand's success. The tour then moves through four main areas: fire trucks, military vehicles, construction equipment and racing trucks. For those nostalgic for the good old days of the Paris-Dakar Rally will remember the incredible performance of the Tatra 815, which won the famous rally six times in the 1980s.
At the end of the tour, one climbs up to a mezzanine, where a few vintage motorcycles are lined up, and which gives access to a footbridge allowing to see from above all the models exposed in the smallest details.
On the way out, don't forget to take a look at the Tatra wagon that used to connect Prague to Bratislava in 2 hours at 160 km/h (compared to 2.5 hours today...).
