TORRE DEL BRAMANTE
Tower of 60 m symbol of Vigevano, built in 1492 by order of Ludovico Sforza.
The 60-metre-high tower of Vigevano is attributed to Bramante. It was built in 1492 on the basis of a pre-existing communal tower, by order of Ludovico Sforza, but it was not until the 17th century that it was topped with the small dome still visible today. Elegant and slender, the tower imitates the model of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. Every day, the tower sets the pace for the life of the inhabitants of Vigevano, both with its clock and with the ringing of its bells. The view of the town and the surrounding countryside is well worth the climb.
