BATTISTERO
Very beautiful testimony of Romanesque architecture, decorated with a Lombard porch and a gallery with columns.
The octagonal baptistery, decorated with a Lombard porch and a columned gallery, is a fine example of Romanesque architecture and dates from 1167. Considerably altered in the 16th century, the marbled exterior facades date from this period, in order to harmonize with the neighbouring Duomo. In a refined interior, admire the two baroque altars as well as the beautiful red marble baptismal font of 1531, the work of Lorenzo Trotti. A group of pieces from the 12th and 13th centuries form the corpus of a small museum of Romanesque sculpture.
