TEATRO ALL'ANTICA
Spectacular architectural complex, the first modern theater in history.
A spectacular architectural complex, built from 1588, according to the project of Vincenzo Scamozzi, a pupil of Palladio. Monteverdi's first plays were performed here in the early 17th century. It is the first "modern" theatre in history, with a real entrance reserved for the artists, independent of the entrance of the spectators, and impressive perspective games. The ceiling of the hall imitates a starry sky and the stage, in trompe l'oeil, illustrates the ideal city with the Capitol and Hadrian's Mausoleum.
