PALAZZO DUCALE
Palace that allows you to retrace the history of the lords of the city in Sabbioneta.
Vespasian Gonzaga was ambitious but relatively penniless. If the monuments built are simple on the outside, they contain real riches. The Duke's residence and administrative headquarters, the Ducal Palace (1560), allows you to retrace the history of the city's lords. The Habsburg Hall is decorated with medallions bearing the effigies of Emperors Maximilian II and Rudolf II, while the Hall of the Guards bears the coat of arms of the Spanish royal family. The Sala delle Aquile displays the equestrian statues of the Gonzagas, which are particularly evocative.
