TEATRO DONIZETTI
The theater is considered one of the best in Italy for the diffusion and harmony of sound.
Built between 1783 and 1791, it was dedicated to Donizetti in 1897, a great composer born in Bergamo (1797-1948), on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. The hall has maintained its original plan and can accommodate more than 1,600 spectators. One must imagine the astonishment that its construction caused among the people of Bergamo, accustomed only to small wooden theatres. In the centre of the hall there is a huge crystal floor lamp hanging from the ceiling. The theatre is considered to be among the best in Italy for the diffusion and harmony of sound.
