VILLA PLINIANA
Villa built in Torno by the governor of Como Giovanni Anguissolo.
Villa Pliniana was built in 1573 by the governor of Como, Giovanni Anguissolo, around the Pliniana Fountain. This fountain gave water intermittently, which interested the famous naturalist of Verona, Pliny the Elder. Leonardo da Vinci also looked at this strange fountain. The villa welcomed illustrious guests: Stendhal, Liszt, Bellini... The poet Percy Shelley wrote a wonderful description of it. Today it has been transformed into a luxury hotel - absolutely fantastic - and can be rented for private events.
