LOCANDA DEL CERRIGLIO
A historic trattoria, which was frequented by Caravaggio himself. On the menu: traditional Neapolitan dishes.
At the end of one of the narrowest alleys of the city, this intimate and warm trattoria is hidden, as we like it. It is also a historical trattoria, since it was already documented in the 14th century. It regularly received Caravaggio who, in October 1609, was attacked by four hired killers for an obscure story of dishonor; he narrowly escaped. One can imagine the artist sitting at the Locanda over a cuoppo (a cone of fried food) or a plate of pasta alla genovese (a sauce simmered with onions and meat).
