LOCANDA DEL CERRIGLIO
A historic trattoria, which was frequented by Caravaggio himself. On the menu: traditional Neapolitan dishes.
At the end of one of the city's narrowest alleyways lies this warm, intimate trattoria, just the way we like it. It's a historic trattoria, too, dating back to the 14th century. It was a regular guest of Le Caravaggio, who in October 1609 was attacked by four hired killers for an obscure dishonour story; he narrowly escaped. It's easy to imagine the artist at La Locanda, enjoyinga seafood fry-up or a plate of pasta alla genovese (simmered onion and meat sauce).
