COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE DEI GIROLAMINI
Monumental complex including the church with baroque decoration by famous artists
The Church of the Girolamini was built in the 1590s to the design of the Florentine architect Giovanni Antonio Dosio, who was also the author of the plans for the Carthusian monastery of San Martino (Vomero district). The baroque decoration was entrusted to famous artists from Naples, but also from Rome and northern Italy, such as Guido Reni(Ecstasy of St. Francis) or Luca Giordano(The Merchants Chased from the Temple, St. January in the Furnace).
