BASILICA DI SANTA MARIA DELLA SANITÀ
Basilica with a bell tower, a dome with majolica and the fresco of the Madonna della Sanità.
Built in 1602 on the catacombs of San Gaudioso, the basilica has a large bell tower and a dome covered with majolica. Inside, there are works by great artists (Luca Giordano, Giovanni Balducci) and a fresco of the Madonna della Sanità (5th-6th century) which is said to be the oldest Marian image in Naples and is therefore highly venerated. Under the high altar there is the ancient paleochristian basilica, transformed in the baroque style, and the access to the catacombs.
