Baroque style church with a vault containing The Martyrdom and Glory of the Apostles
The original church would date back to the5th century, but it was extensively rebuilt in the 17th century in the Baroque style. Single nave flanked by side chapels and a semicircular apse. The interior was painted by Lanfranco between 1638 and 1646. Linger notably on The Martyrdom and Glory of the Apostles from the vault. See also Prophets and Patriarchs in the upper lunettes. The dome houses a beautiful work by Beinaschi, The Paradise, made in 1680.
