Neoclassical residence and building of the Riviera di Chiaia housing the museum with an art collection
A sumptuous neoclassical residence and the main building on the Riviera di Chiaia, built in the first half of the 19th century by the Neapolitan Pietro Valente. The Princes of Aragon Pignatelli Cortes bought it at the end of the 19th century, turning it into one of the city's great artistic and literary salons. Now state property, it houses the Museo Pignatelli, whose second floor houses permanent exhibitions as well as the art collection of the Banco di Napoli. There's also a library containing over 2,000 books, 4,000 opera and classical music recordings and the carriage museum.
