PALAZZO DONN'ANNA
Palazzo di Donna Anna, a beautiful setting for the bathers of the beaches of Posillipo
It is the palace wanted by Anna Carafa (Donna Anna), the wife of Viceroy Ramiro Guzman. The building was built in 1642 by Cosimo Fanzago. Its massive silhouette, anchored to the reef and resembling the bow of a baroque galleon braving the sea, has fuelled many legends. It is said that Queen Giovanna used to have her lovers thrown into the sea caves under the palace after a night of lust. Today, the palace is private property and cannot be visited. But it serves as a grandiose setting for bathers on the beaches of Posillipo.
