CASTEL CAPUANO
Castle composed of an ornate tower at the entrance, a chapel and a bust room on the first floor
Built in 1154 by the Norman king William I, it has been restored several times. In the 16th century, the Spanish Viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo transferred the Palace of Justice to it, a function that the building assumed until 2007. The entrance to the castle is marked by a tower decorated with the double-headed imperial eagle and a large clock. On thefirst floor there is the Chapel of the Sommaria, built in 1548, and the magnificent Hall of the Busts, whose vault and ceiling are covered with 16th-century frescoes by the Spanish artist Pedro de Rubiales.
