GALLERIA PRINCIPE DI NAPOLI
glass-roofed gallery facing the Archaeological Museum.
Built between 1870 and 1883 to the design of architects Nicola Breglia and Giovanni De Novellis, the gallery offers a clever combination of iron and glass and heralds the ambitious project of the Umberto I gallery, which was completed a few years later. However, the Principe di Napoli Gallery was not as successful as its counterpart which, strategically located along the busy shopping street via Toledo, became an unmissable walking destination for Neapolitans.
