MADRE
The first museum of contemporary art in Naples, one floor for exhibitions, two others for works of art
Opened in 2005, the Madre is Naples' first museum of contemporary art. It is located 100 m from the Archaeological Museum, in the former convent of Santa Maria Donnaregina. The bright spaces have been restored and transformed by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza. One floor is reserved for exhibitions, while the other two allow visitors to admire works from the museum's collection. Permanent artists include some of the great names in contemporary art: Mimmo Paladino, Daniel Buren, Gilbert & George, Jannis Kounellis, Sol LeWitt, Jeff Koons...

Café, librairie, espace calme dans la cour. Lors de ma visite, l'entrée avait été retravaillée par Burren: murs et plafonds laqués en orange et jaune d'un côté, miroirs de l'autre, jeux de rayures au sol, effet visuel superbe!!!
