MADRE
The first museum of contemporary art in Naples, one floor for exhibitions, two others for works of art
Opened in 2005, the Madre is the first museum of contemporary art in Naples. It is located 100 m from the Archaeological Museum, in the former convent of Santa Maria Donnaregina. The spaces restored and transformed by the Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza are bright. One floor is reserved for exhibitions and the other two floors allow you to admire works from the museum's collection. The permanent artists are among the great names of contemporary art: Mimmo Paladino, Daniel Buren, Gilbert & George, Jannis Kounellis, Sol LeWitt, Jeff Koons...

Café, librairie, espace calme dans la cour. Lors de ma visite, l'entrée avait été retravaillée par Burren: murs et plafonds laqués en orange et jaune d'un côté, miroirs de l'autre, jeux de rayures au sol, effet visuel superbe!!!
