CHIESA DELL'ANNUNZIATA
Church preserving its Renaissance facade with a single nave and stuccoed interior
Majestic Renaissance style church, built in the 16th century on the site of an abandoned building from the Angevin period. Its façade is reminiscent of an ancient temple, with its Corinthian pilasters and triangular tympanum. In the niches, statues of Saint Roch and Saint Lucia. The single-nave interior was rebuilt in the 18th century and decorated with stuccoes. Dome designed by Domenico Fontana (1543-1607). Note the suspended passage that spans Corso Appio on the side of the church: it connected it to the former convent.
