ROMANIAN TERM
Set of porticoes and terraces of several thermal complexes of the Roman Antiquity including the Baths of Mercury
Imposing set of porticoes and terraces that belonged to several thermal complexes of the Roman Antiquity. In the Baths of Mercury, note the large circular room, which was to serve as a frigidarium (cold bath), and its dome of 26 m in diameter: built at the time of the Emperor Augustus, it is the first known example of a hemispherical roof of such magnitude in Roman concrete. This technology was later used to cover the Pantheon in Rome. The remains allow one to imagine the gentle way of life in Baia in ancient times.
