BAIA SOMMERSA
Archaeological park under the sea where you can observe the remains of the ancient Baia
An archaeological park buried a few metres below sea level, where it is possible to see the remains of the ancient Baia, a popular holiday resort for the Roman elite. The phenomenon of bradyseism has led to the immersion of the site, which can now be discovered on board the Cymba, a glass-bottomed boat. Among the sunken ruins of this "little Rome", as Cicero called it, one can recognize a villa and its mosaic pavement, public baths, the commercial port and the great patrician villa of Pison, surrounded by colonnades.
