TEMPIO DELLA FORTUNA AUGUSTA
Temple of Fortune Augustus founded by Marcus Tullius relating the golden age of Roman classicism
In Rome, as in other Italian cities, the practice of the cult of Fortune began with the return from the expeditions of the Emperor Augustus (63 BC to 14 AD), a key figure in the golden age of Roman classicism. Discovered in 1823, the Temple of Fortune Augustus, built by Marcus Tullius, a prominent member of the Pompeian aristocracy and a well-known figure in the city, is in poor condition but is one of the most picturesque in Pompeii.
