Thermal baths of the forum in Pompeii realized with the traditional plan with mythological figures
Pompeii had three public thermal establishments inside its walls, as well as the suburban baths, built next to the Porta Marina. Dating from 80 B.C., and therefore built under the government of Sylla, the forum thermal baths (smaller than the Stabies thermal baths) take up the traditional plan : theapodyterium (changing room), the frigidarium (room for cold baths), the tepidarium (room for warm baths), the caldarium (room for hot baths). Note the stucco in relief of the vault, the geometric divisions and the mythological figures.
