CASA DEI VETTII
One of the most famous residences in Pompeii with an atrium and rings of the Vettii seal
Two rings with the seal of the Vettii, rich freedmen, are affixed to this house, one of the most famous in Pompeii. Note the painted representation of the god Priape in the entrance of the house, an ithyphallic deity (with a particularly developed male member) supposed to guarantee the economic prosperity of the owners of the house. Atrium of the fourth style (68 AD) with very fine paintings and a compluvium with terracotta gutters. The living room of this house is known for its Pompeian red panels and its frieze of small loves.
