CASA DELLO SCHELETRO
Residence composed of three houses, with marble pavement and altar with mosaics and shells
During excavations in 1831, archaeologists discovered a skeleton on the first floor. A vast residence that resulted from the union of three previous houses. Beautiful marble pavement and altar covered with mosaics and shells, in honour of the Penates (deities who watch over the prosperity of the family). Theatrium is completely covered. The triclinium is decorated in the IIIrd style (end of the reign of Augustus) and has a beautiful pavement in opus sectile (geometrical patterns in coloured marble slabs). Nymphaeum surmounted by a mosaic frieze.
