Its position is slightly regulator; in return, the hotel enjoys a beautiful view of the Gulf and Mount Vesuvius. The entrance is very careful and especially convenient for parking. The lobby is magnificent, baroque style and elegant, as is its American bar and the rest of the hotel. The lower floor is reserved for the wellness centre (sauna, Jacuzzi and gym) with many types of massages available. The rooms are on the upper floors and have all the services of the grand hotel. On the first floor, a superb terrace is available for guests to enjoy the swimming pool, solarium area and piano bar, not to be missed for a cocktail at sunset.

The Hotel is so outdated. When I entered my room it smelled like a urinal. The walls are covered with some kind of fabrics, and there are stains on them. The windows curtains are dirty. The window glass is dark brown so there is no view, and you don't get any daylight into the room. The bed cover had wholes in it. And staff is very unfriendly, they simply don't care. I would not come here again even if it was for free.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel , and things have changed not all for the best . The same clean rooms , curtious staff and acceptable food although not the selection we had before 5 years previous . A dangerous walk into the village , beware !! The big shock was the tourist tax of 70 euros , classed on. 5* hotel , definitely not more like 4* .be prepared for this charge !!! Try to book a front facing room , we had a view of an old scaffolded building , not the best but quiet .

It looks like this hotel was once an amazing place. It's now a bit dated and needs some maintenance. The air-conditioning doesn't work, one of the lifts doesn't work, there is no spa or sauna. The room was spacious as was the bathroom, but the bed and pillows are extremely hard. The patio door hinges needed replacing as the door was very hard to open and close. There is a small fridge in the room with one bottle of water in it, the fridge door was very sticky for some reason. The hair dryer is worthless. There are 2 very small bottles of shampoo in the bathroom, you need to bring your own toiletries. Staff were friendly enough, food was reasonable but a bit repetitive and no pizza! Pool is small but nice enough, clean, but very cold! The location is a little remote but there is a free shuttle bus that takes you to central Sorrento every 2 hours or so. This is at best a 3 star hotel. It's lovely and quiet at this time of year and the air was absolutely full of the smell of orange blossom, literally full of aroma!! There is a half decent pizza restaurant around the corner. We walked to Sorrento, takes about 40 minutes, there is also a train station at the bottom of the road which we took to Pompei, the train there did catch fire though which was a bit of an adventure.

Lovely hotel. Incredible entrance/reception area. Great location, with a coach that takes you regularly to and from Sorrento. The restaurant and bar staff were fantastic: very friendly and helpful. Great food, with lots of different options, and new things every day (we went for 7 days). Room was nice, large, and cleaned daily. Great musical entertainment, with a tarantella band on one night being my personal favourite. Wonderful views of the mountains and vesuvius from our room.

Criticisms: though nice, the rooms were nothing special for a 5* hotel; the cleaner didn't pay attention to the do not disturb sign at all, and one time came in without even knocking while the sign was up; there could be more signage for the food, to know what allergens are in certain foods and what is vegetarian (I accidentally ate one or two things that had meat inside them but this was not disclosed); the pool was unheated (typical of Italy but still worth noting) and the sunbeds weren't hugely comfortable.

Overall: I'd highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're wanting to use it as a base to go to other places, less so if you're wanting more of a pool holiday. The dinner and bar staff were a particular highlight, I can't praise them enough.
