BASILICA DI SANT'ANTONINO
Basilica with crypt of St. Antoninus bordering a square with a statue of the patron saint of Sorrento
Dedicated to the patron saint of Sorrento, the basilica borders a square dominated by the statue of Saint Antoninus. Of ancient origin, it was completely remodeled in the Baroque period; only the columns of the nave and the façade are original, as is the side portal. The crypt preserves the bones of St. Antoninus, author of many miracles, including the rescue of a child from the stomach of a whale (the basilica preserves two ribs of this supposed whale).
