CHIESA DI SAN GIOVANNI DEL TORO
Church with naves separated by arches with remains of frescoes, a Roman sarcophagus
Beautiful church built in the 11th century and restored in the 18th century following an earthquake that damaged the structure. The bare interior has three naves separated by raised arches resting on Corinthian columns. Note the remains of frescoes from different periods, the Roman sarcophagus (3rd century) in the right-hand aisle and the precious 12th-century pulpit decorated with mosaics and ceramic fragments of Syrian origin.
