DUOMO
Cathedral in Ravello with a museum and testimonies of the southern Romanesque art
Dedicated to St Mary of the Assumption, the cathedral of Ravello was built at the end of the 11th century, extensively altered in the 12th century and completely refurbished in the Baroque period. It preserves some beautiful testimonies of the southern Romanesque art. Note the sublime bronze door made in 1179 by Barisano da Trani, whose panels represent biblical scenes and holy figures. Inside, linger over the ambo, strongly influenced by Byzantine art, and the 13th-century pulpit. The crypt houses the Duomo Museum.
