CHIESA SAN BENEDETTO
Romanesque church with three naves and a façade with a portico of Corinthian columns.
Originally, the church was an integral part of the monastery of San Benedetto founded between the 7th and 9th centuries. Destroyed by the Saracens in 884, it was rebuilt to become one of the spiritual references of southern Italy. The church, in Romanesque style, has a bare interior with three naves and a roof of wooden beams. The façade has a portico with Corinthian columns. After the closure of the monastery in 1807, the church was used as a theatre. It was returned to its original function in the mid-19th century.
