CHIESA SAN GIORGIO
Baroque church with a marble portal in Renaissance style and impressive paintings.
Certainly one of the most beautiful baroque churches in Salerno. Its foundation dates back to the Lombard period and it then depended on a convent of Benedictine nuns whose buildings were spread all around. Its entrance is marked by a marble portal in Renaissance style, dated 1560. Inside, however, the Baroque style has taken over the spaces and surfaces: golden stucco and frescoes cover the walls, vaults and dome. Impressive paintings signed Andrea Da Salerno, Angelo and Francesco Solimena.
