MEDIEVALE ACQUEDOTTO
Medieval aqueduct used to supply water to the monastery of San Benedetto
The monumental ruins of a medieval aqueduct, built in the 9th century to supply water to the monastery of San Benedetto, are located in a residential area with modern buildings. Its original length is estimated at about 650 metres with a maximum height of 21 metres. There are still two sections of different orientation, which span the current street and were at the time at the level of the old city walls. Note: the use of the pointed arch, quite unusual at the time of its construction.
