VILLA MALAPARTE
Villa with roof terrace overlooking the sea designed by Adalberto Libera for the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte
The villa was designed by Adalberto Libera for the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte (1898-1957). The latter left it as a legacy to the People's Republic of China, but the legacy was contested by his family. It was his grand-nephew, Niccolo Rositani, who was responsible for the restoration of the villa between 1980 and 1990. The huge roof terrace, without railings and overlooking the sea, has become an icon of modern architecture, especially thanks to the film Le Mépris (1963) by Jean-Luc Godard, with Brigitte Bardot and her famous line "Do you like my buttocks? ».
