Capri, part real island, part mystical island, reveals its charms with every step. From the Marina Grande port, you can start your exploration of the island in a fun way, by taking the funicular. It takes you to Piazza Umberto I (La Piazzetta) in the city center. You'll be immersed in a chic atmosphere, with the chance to shop in luxury boutiques or explore the cobbled streets framed by Capri's emblematic white houses. Pure enchantment - we ask for it again and again!

Did you know? Capri has an unusual law prohibiting the wearing of clogs! Deemed too noisy when worn en masse in the 60s, they were the subject of this astonishing law, to say the least!

If you'd like to visit Capri, we recommend booking this guided tour from Naples. You'll admire the gulf, visit Capri's sights and taste the local specialities.

2. Anacapri: the little sister that's a must-see

Set course for Anacapri, 275m above sea level. The town is known for its highly touristy center, notably via Giuseppe Orlandi, packed with restaurants and boutiques. Despite its popularity, some of the more secluded areas are less crowded. You can enjoy a lively city center until 5 p.m. in summer. In passing, we invite you to visit San Michele church, with its elegant majolica floor. Your day is punctuated by a stroll through the shady lanes of the old town. Enjoy a complete change of scenery, with pretty whitewashed houses offering a tranquil ambience.

You can discover Anacapri by booking this day trip to Capri, Anacapri and the Blue Grotto from Naples.

3. The Faraglioni, between crystal-clear sea and giant rocks

Treat yourself to one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Mediterranean when you visit Capri's Faraglioni. Made up of three imposing limestone rocks in the south-east of the island, they are the icons of the world. Faraglione di Terra (Saetta), the highest at 109 meters, is still attached to the earth. Next is Faraglione di Mezzo (Stella), rising to 81 metres and famous for its immense natural arch. Finally, Faraglione di Fuori (Scopolo), the furthest from the coast, reaches 104 metres. Nearby, Scoglio del Monacone is often the unfortunate forgotten one in this dreamy setting.

Good to know: Stella and Scopolo are home to the world's only colony of the lucertola azzurra, an endemic blue lizard.

Would you like to observe these natural wonders? You'll have a magnificent view of these natural treasures from the Giardini di Augusto, as well as from various belvederes around town. Boat excursions also allow you to get a closer look, and even pass under the Stella Arch.

4. Arco Naturale, Mother Nature at work

Your discovery of Capri's natural wonders doesn't end there. One of the most famous points of interest is the Arco Naturale, a natural arch 12 meters wide and 18 meters high. Formed in limestone rock, it is the dazzling result of erosion by water and wind. This geological phenomenon began in Paleolithic times when sea level was aligned with the arch, initially creating a cave in the rock. Subsequent uplift of the island isolated the arch from marine erosive forces, then wind and rain erosion continued to sculpt its present form. Now that our little geology lesson is over, all that remains is for you to go and admire this splendor by booking this cruise that will take you past the Grotte Blanche, the Arco Naturale, the Casa Malaparte and the Faraglioni rocks.

Highlights the ArcoNaturale, overlooking an area known as 'o funno, can be reached on foot via via Matermania and via Arco Naturale. You can also reach it via the coastal path of via Pizzolungo.

5. Capri's most beautiful beaches

Despite its lack of large sandy beaches, Capri offers some exceptionally beautiful places to relax. Marina Grande, the most famous, is an irresistible attraction, with its crystal-clear waters. Nearby, Palazzo a Mare beach is favored by families for its size, facilities and easy access. Or turn to Bagni di Tiberio, popular since Roman times. Made up of pebbles and sand, this exceptional beach is often cited as one of the most beautiful in Italy.

On its side, Marina Piccolafurther south, is a prime spot for enjoying the view of the Faraglioni. Another fine view awaits you at Marina di Mulo, a relatively quiet spot where you can enjoy the spectacular setting of cliffs plunging into the sea. Take your pick!

6. Escape to Capri's many hiking trails

On Capri, hiking enthusiasts are spoiled for choice with dreamy trails offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The Sentiero dei Fortini is a must. Running along the island's west coast, it links the old military fortifications and offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Another memorable walk is the Pizzolungo, a path that winds around the cliffs in the south of the island, passing close to the Arco Naturale and offering a beautiful view of the Faraglioni. You're well equipped with your best camera, aren't you? Take it with you before setting off in the direction of the Migliara path, starting from Anacapri. It leads to a spectacular viewpoint from which you can admire the Punta Carena lighthouse.

Each of these trails reveals Capri's wild beauty, between azure seas, breathtaking cliffs and lush Mediterranean vegetation. Which one will win you over?

7. Mount Solaro, Capri's finest panorama

At 589 meters above sea level, Monte Solaro is Capri's highest point. Ready to tackle the climb? With its breathtaking views over the Gulf of Naples, Ischia and the Sorrento peninsula, it's well worth the effort! Known asAcchiapanuvole for the clouds that form on its summit at dawn, it divides the island between Capri to the east and Anacapri to the west.

No appetite for walking? Good news! The summit can be reached by chairlift from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri. It costs around ten euros round trip. If you decide to try your luck on foot, you'll reach the summit in just one hour via Monte Solaro. The descent on foot allows you to explore the natural area of Cetrella, with a visit to a pretty church along the way.

8. The Grotte Bleue, a small natural wonder

A magical moment is guaranteed at the Grotta Azzurra, famous for its cobalt-blue reflections and clear water, which served as a nymphaeum in Roman antiquity. Surrounded by superstition and legends, it was avoided for a long time - and what a pity! It was finally rediscovered in 1826 by poet August Kopisch and artist Ernest Fries. Thanks to them, it's a site of breathtaking beauty that we can admire today with stars in our eyes. The highest point of the ceiling, nicknamed the "Duomo Azzurro" or "Blue Cathedral", reaches 14 metres. Accessible by boat, it offers an adventure like no other, but beware! The queue can be (very) long in summer!

9. Les Jardins d'Auguste, the Italian romantic escape

Visiting Capri for a trip or a romantic weekendaway? The Jardins d'Auguste are the perfect place to find yourself gazing into each other's eyes, the burning passion of your declarations of love lost in the maze of colorful flowers. Formerly known as the Krupp Gardens, they promise spectacular views of the Faraglioni and Marina Piccola from their flower-filled terraces. Instagrammer friends, you've found a dream spot!

These botanical gardens showcase the local flora, with paths adorned with geraniums, dahlias, lawns and fountains. The Via Krupp below, an impressive road with sharp bends commissioned by Krupp to link the gardens to the Marina Piccola, adds to the charm of the place.

10. The Via Krupp, one of the most beautiful roads in the world

The Via Krupp is one of the world's most beautiful paved roads, linking La Certosa di San Giacomo and the Gardens of Augustus to Marina Piccola. Built between 1900 and 1902, this historic road climbs for around 100 meters, with hairpin bends so close together they almost seem to overlap. Commissioned by Friedrich Alfred Krupp, the magnificent Via Krupp was intended to facilitate access to Marina Piccola from his hotel.

Unusual story: rumors rather suggest that Krupp used this path for secret meetings in the Grotta di Fra' Felice.

Closed from 1976 to 2008 due to landslides, the Via Krupp was finally reopened, once again offering spectacular panoramic views. A bucolic stroll not to be missed during your stay in Capri!

11. A beautiful boat trip around Capri

One of the best ways to see Capri is by boat. From Marina Grande, you can embark for trips lasting around an hour and a half. Almost all excursions take you to the Blue Grotto, and many other points of interest. Other, lesser-known caves may be among your discoveries: the Grotte Blanche and Grotte Verte, less crowded than their sister caves in high summer. You'll also discover unusual features such as Villa Malaparte, the Faraglioni and Punta Carena.

Tip by Petit Futé : we recommend that you sit on the right-hand side of the boat, as this is where you'll find the best views.

12. Villa Jovis and Mount Tiberio, when Rome invites itself to Capri

Capri has been a popular destination since antiquity, particularly for Roman emperors. Tiberius, in particular, spent his summers here and eventually settled down. But why are we telling you all this? Because even today, the ruins of his residence, the Villa Jovis, can be seen on Mount Tiberio, named in his honor. The villa's archaeological site extends over 7,000 square meters at the top of the mountain, combining the characteristics of a fortress with those of a Roman villa. A pure splendor of the past!

The icing on the cake : it's an ideal opportunity to enjoy the surrounding nature and panoramic views over the Gulf of Naples.

13. Taste Capri's local specialties

Treat yourself to Capri cuisine, influenced by the Amalfi coast and island traditions. As such, it favors fish, vegetables and olive oil. Typical starters include cheese ravioli with tomato and sage sauce, and Caprese salad, made with Capri tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil and oregano.

Let's move on to the main course. Between the Chiummenzana (spaghetti with garlic, olive oil, chili, basil and oregano) and theAumm Aumm (pasta with eggplant, tomatoes and mozzarella), which one will make your mouth water? The second courses (yes, that's the Italian way!) feature stuffed calamari, Pezzogna and marinated anchovies.

Let's get down to business: dessert! Don't hesitate to try the caprese cake made with almonds and dark chocolate, a pure delight! And don't forget lemon cream fritters and caprilù, two gourmet discoveries to add to your menu.
