Hotel in a charming setting near the beach and 2 minutes from the port of Ischia.
It couldn't be better located in the town of Ischia, 200 m from the beach and the main street, and 2 minutes from the port. Villa Maria is an old Liberty style house, which dates back to the time when the first pictures of Naples, which can be seen throughout the hotel, were taken. The hotel is well maintained and well equipped, with around 40 rooms, elegantly furnished with wrought iron beds and contemporary art on the walls. Some have balconies and sea views.

Very simply furnished rooms, with most of the furniture being charming in a boutique style. The refrigerator looked ridiculously misplaced, with the tiniest TV I've seen on top. But at least it had a refrigerator, even though it made quite some noise. Never bothered to try the TV.
The location also means there is quite a bit noise from the street outside. If you close the balcony doors and windows it it OK, but then you might suffocate from lack of fresh air during the night.
The staff seemed very friendly, but did not speak a single word English. During check-in we received no information regarding breakfast nor dinner, nor anything else really. We got the impression that our room was in the basement, and when we asked if it really was so, the staff confirmed. It was however on the first floor, with a nice balcony.
After asking the reception for WiFi access, we managed to connect to the WiFi itself, but it had no internet connection, so it was quite useless.
The breakfast is forgettable. Dry croissants and not exactly the best cheese. Not sure why they even bothered. The espresso was good, though.
