LACCO AMENO
Lacco Ameno is the smallest city on Ischia Island. Lacco has a population of about 4,500 and is located in the northwest part of the island. The small town is one of the first Greek colonies of the Peninsula, it was founded by the Magna Grecia in the life of the century BC and named Poseidon, in honor of the god of the sea. In 200 B.C., by becoming a Roman colony, it was known as Paestum. The Romans used to transform the city and build baths, a forum and amphitheaters. In the 1950 s and 1960 s, Lacco Ameno was mainly attended by movie stars and European royal families. Today it is mainly the tourists who come to enjoy this small town with white houses, small churches, seventeenth century palaces overlooking the coast, the old tower of Aragon and beautiful tree lined streets. The city is also known for its thermal waters and the emblematic «Il Fungo», this volcanic rock that looks like a mushroom, a height of 10 m, and would come from Mount Epomeo several thousand years ago.

Lacco Ameno, magnifique partie de l'île. Il faut y aller avant le déjeuner pour avoir encore de la place sur la plage. Eau chaude et transparente comme on adore !
