In 1776, the city theatre, built by Count Juraj Csáky, was built on the present site of the SND. The current theatre was built to the plans of architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer and opened its doors in 1886. This magnificent neo-Renaissance building dominates Hviezdoslav Square. Classified as a historical monument and therefore protected, its facades have remained as they are. Its interior is also sumptuous with its balconies, gilding and heavy curtains.

Le vieux theatre de l'opera, dans la place principale de Bratislava. Un theatre traditionrel très agreable ou on peu voir une opera ou un ballet à prix abordable. Si il y a un spectacle et vous etez à Bratislava, allez y! On peu voir des operas aussi dans l'Opera nouvelle.
