This weekend reminds us that Bratislava used to be a royal city. The king's coronation is replayed in period costumes.
The Coronation Festival in Bratislava is one of the biggest cultural events in the country. It honours and remembers that eighteen kings and queens of Hungary were crowned in Bratislava. The festival is held every year on the last weekend of June in memory of the coronation of Maria Theresa of Austria on 25 June 1741. This great festival brings together more than 200 actors in period costumes and all the other attractions create a historical atmosphere in the city.
